Alan Hovhaness (1911 – 2000), one of the most prolific composers of the 20th century, discovered his musical voice during his Armenian period – from early forties to mid-fifties. The present CD contains piano music composed during that time. Most of the material is in manuscript and has not been recorded previously. In addition to the solo piano music, the disc contains two compositions for piano and percussion, as well as “Vijag,” scored for two pianos.
The deluxe album contains an extensive booklet.
