This photo book depicts beautiful Ararat in different seasons and lights, accompanied by poems by well-known Armenian poets moved by the mountain's glory.
All poems in both Armenian and English.
In the middle
of this mountain-island,
Two giant handmade bells hang suspended from the sky.
Neither you nor I are ringing them.
They are Sis and Masis,
Who will toll forever more...
Baruyr Sevak
I'm Armenian, as old as the Biblical mountain,
My feet are still wet from flood water,
Noah saw my holy land for the first time,
And Bel of Babylon was crushed by my sword.
Gevorg Emin
You are the immaculate soul
Of Armenia's bloody world.
Let the flames burn and scorch
Your proud brown, Ararat.
And in our broken hearts,
You burn immortal and abundant
You are the pure sole, Ararat.
You the eternal guardian,
Ever shining, Mount Ararat.
